Dietary fibers were prepared as alkali- and acid-insoluble fractions with chemical phosphorylation from Tossa jute (Corchorus olitorius), defatted soybean (Glycine max), and Shiitake (Lentinula edodes). The dietary fiber fractions treated with alkaline solution containing sodium metaphosphate had the lower protein content and higher total dietary fiber content than those of the preparations without phosphorylation. Alkaline extraction followed by phosphorylation led to a 1.5-fold increase in the water holding capacity of dietary fiber compared with no phosphorylation, whereas the binding capacity to bile acids of dietary fiber was almost the same. The alkali- and acid-insoluble extraction with phosphorylation provided an efficient preparation of water-insoluble dietary fiber with high-water holding capacity from various food sources.  相似文献

We evaluated the anti-tumor activities of the oral administration of fucoidan extracted from Cladosiphon okamuranus using a tumor (colon 26)-bearing mouse model. The materials used included low-molecular-weight fucoidan (LMWF: 6.5–40 kDa), intermediate-molecular-weight fucoidan (IMWF: 110–138 kDa) and high-molecular-weight fucoidan (HMWF: 300–330 kDa). The IMWF group showed significantly suppressed tumor growth. The LMWF and HMWF groups showed significantly increased survival times compared with that observed in the control group (mice fed a fucoidan-free diet). The median survival times in the control, LMWF, IMWF and HMWF groups were 23, 46, 40 and 43 days, respectively. It was also found that oral administration of fucoidan increased the population of natural killer cells in the spleen. Furthermore, from the results of the experiment using Myd-88 knockout mice, it was found that these effects are related to gut immunity. These results suggest that fucoidan is a candidate anti-tumor functional food.  相似文献

The complete nucleotide sequences of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) from four Seriola spp. (S. quinqueradiata, S. lalandi, S. dumerili, and S. rivoliana) were determined with the aim of developing a species identification analysis method for discriminating between commercially important Seriola spp. and other related species. In addition, the nucleotide sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene (Cytb) from five related but less expensive species in terms of market value (Seriolella brama, S. caerulea, S. punctata, Hyperoglyphe japonica, and Rachycentron canadum), which are often used as substitutes for Seriola spp., were determined. Restriction enzyme sites were examined by comparing the nucleotide sequences, and species-specific primers were designed for PCR-based restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis. Based on the results of the PCR amplification studies, the four Seriola spp. and the five related species tested could be categorized into three groups according to their PCR product pattern: a 373-bp product from the four Seriola spp., a 513-bp product from three Seriolella spp. and H. japonica, and a 204-bp product from R. canadum. In addition, RFLP analysis of the PCR products was able to differentiate these fish species.  相似文献

We examined the effects of process and observation errors on the selection of the stock–recruitment relationship (SRR) curve using simulations. When the process and observation errors were added to both spawning stock biomass and recruitment, the results were as follows: (1) When the proportional model was set as the true SRR model, there was a high probability that the Ricker or Beverton and Holt model was selected in response to the errors; (2) When the Ricker or Beverton and Holt model was set as the true SRR model, the proportional model was seldom selected in response to the errors; (3) The proportional SRR model should be accepted as the optimum SRR model for the Pacific stock of Japanese sardine; (4) We should use an SRR model that is constructed from more than two independent variables (spawning stock biomass, environmental factors, etc.) when we discuss management of fisheries resources.  相似文献

Glycoproteins gB of Marek's disease virus (MDV) and herpesvirus of turkeys (HVT) related to virus neutralization were purified from HVT-infected cells by affinity chromatography. Immunization of chickens with purified glycoproteins gB resulted in partial protection against MD. Neutralizing antibodies were detected in chickens immunized with HVT-gB.  相似文献

Lymphocytes from sheep experimentally infected with bovine leukosis virus (BLV) and from non-infected normal sheep were examined for the presence of surface Ig by an immunofluorescence test. Surface Ig-bearing lymphocytes in blood from BLV-infected sheep increased when lymphocyte counts of blood were elevated in comparison with normal animals. The mitogen stimulation of cultured lymphocytes from BLV-infected sheep and from non-infected normal sheep was determined by measuring 3H-thymidine incorporation. Peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) from BLV-infected leukemic sheep with elevated PBL counts responded poorly to phytohemagglutinin M and concanavalin A but responded well to lipopolysaccharide compared with lymphocytes from uninfected animals. In BLV-infected preleukemic sheep with low PBL counts, stimulation indices of mitogen responses of lymphocytes with phytohemagglutinin M, concanavalin A, and pokeweed mitogen were low compared with those of lymphocytes from uninfected animals. The results indicated that B cells were affected by BLV infection in sheep as suggested by the increased number of surface Ig-bearing lymphocytes and that significant alteration of mitogen stimulation of lymphocytes occured in sheep with BLV infection.  相似文献

We estimated the population size of the pond smelt Hypomesus nipponensis at the beginning of the fishing season in Lake Kasumigaura and Lake Kitaura, Japan using two DeLury methods and cohort analysis. A growth curve was estimated on the basis of monthly standard length. The relationship between standard length and weight was utilized for calculating the mean weight on the survey day in a particular month. Total monthly catches in Lake Kasumigaura and Lake Kitaura were calculated using partial monthly pond smelt catch obtained from processing plants located near the lakes between July and December. The total monthly catch was calculated from the total monthly catch weight and the monthly mean weight. The number of boats operating each month, compiled by the Kasumigaura-Kitaura Fisheries Office of Ibaraki Prefecture, was also employed. The estimated initial population sizes were compared with the population level index (PLI) estimated from survey data before the start of the fishing season. No significant differences were detected among the initial population sizes estimated by DeLury method, cohort analysis and PLI. The estimates ranged from 7.4 million to 410 million in Lake Kasumigaura, and from 7.7 million to 44 million in Lake Kitaura.  相似文献
